Welcome to my Gardening Blog.
In October of 2012 I moved from Anaheim CA to the Mojave Desert. So the older posts will reflect my gardening before the move, and my newer ones are after the move. Now that I have a huge yard and sandy soil (the opposite of what I had in Anaheim), I have to learn how to adapt.

Happy Kalanchoes
Sometimes you can find great deals if you know enough about plants to spot a good thing when you see it. A few days ago I spotted some kalanchoes in 3 different colors (pink, yellow and orange) at one of those dollar for everything stores. They looked pretty sad. But they are succulents and tough little plants. So I brought three of them home and let them overnight inside by house for 48 hours so they could adjust to cooler temperatures than inside a heated store. I didn't want them to freeze. Then today I took them outside to plant them in a shallow bowl and they looked so much better. The leaves were nice and plump and the flowers were bright and happy. So for under $5 I got a lovely dish garden in fall colors.
